The Sanctuary Project
Garter Lane Arts Centre and The Edmund Rice Heritage Centre, Integration and Support Unit present:
A Work-in-Progress Showing
In recent weeks, a motely crew of male asylum seekers have been meeting with theatre makers Ita Morrissey and Donal Gallagher, with the support of the Arts Council Artist in the Community scheme. Over the coming months, it is hoped that with further support, they will work together to make an original and provocative theatre piece, based on their real life experience of living in Direct Provision. Join us for this informal sharing of the work so far, and catch a unique glimpse into the world of one of the most marginalised group in Irish society.
"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."
Article 1 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Sanctuary Project showing will be followed by a presentation of certificates to local asylum seekers who participated in Garter Lane Arts Centre's photography project with artist Philip Cullen.
