Make A Date with Doris on Saturday 12th May at 8 pm! West End performer Aileen Donohoe takes you on a sentimental journey of America’s sweetheart, Doris Day, in a celebration of her music and movies spanning more than 30 years of her glorious career, from the big band era to the golden age of Hollywood.
Rosslare native, Aileen Donohoe studied at Trinity College, Dublin and later at The Royal Academy of Music, London. Her first professional role was Rose, in Kurt Weill’s One Touch of Venus at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and subsequently; Carmen,La bohème and Cosi Fan Tutte at the Royal Festival Hall. In the West End, Aileen performed for five years in the smash-hit musical Wicked at the Victoria Apollo Theatre. Other West End Shows include; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s, The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London. Aileen performed the lead role of Donna in Mamma Mia at The Point, Dublin as part of the show’s first international tour.
West End musical director, Robert Scott, whose recent production of Mack and Mabel with Michael Ball was performed at The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, will accompany Aileen on piano with his own original arrangements of Doris Day’s song collection. Robert was musical director for West End productions Singin’ in the Rain, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and She Loves Me and is composer of the original musical scores for Peter Pan and Sleepless in Seattle.
