BEAG is an early years arts programme specifically for children from birth to three and their carers. It is run through Graffiti Theatre with funding partners HSE South, Cork City Arts Office and Cork County Arts Office.
BEAG is artist led and child centred; we design and deliver high quality rich artistic experiences for and with children from birth to three in their childcare settings. Paper Play is one such experience.
“Paper Play” is a free, sensory play activity for babies and children up to 3 years. Facilitated by artists Helga Deasy and Grace Kiely, up to 12 children and their adults will enjoy a captivating non-verbal storytelling performance, specifically designed to engage children from birth to three years.
There is an immense learning opportunity through this creative play experience. Linking to Aistear’s framework of well being, identity, communication, exploring and thinking, Paper Play encourages children to gently explore, making sense of the world around them. There’s no right or wrong, just what each individual sees and how they interpret their own experience.
After the 15 minute performance, children and their carers will then have the opportunity to engage in free play with elements of what they have seen, and encouraged to explore some of their senses while developing motor skills.
Paper Play is an enchanting offering where almost silent story-telling, movement and white paper create endless transformational possibilities.
