Episode 1: Parisian People
Illustrator: Dermot Flynn
Dermot was born in Northside Dublin and now splits his time between there and London. He has been working as an artist and illustrator for more than twenty years; working for clients such as Apple, Adidas and The Irish Times. Highlights of his time working include creating portraits of famous people in chocolate, toast and Marmite; being threatened with legal action for creating portraits of other famous people in toothpaste; production designs for a Disney film about a school for fairy godmothers and illustrating a Christmas poetry book for Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy. When he’s not drawing or painting his favourite thing to do is to jump into the nearest freezing cold sea for a swim.
Episode 2: Rendezvous
Debora Adachi was born and raised in a little town in Brazil. Just like her family emigrated from Japan to Brazil, she moved from Brazil to Ireland. She arrived in Dublin in 2019 and she’s been living here ever since. Before, she used to be an architect, but now she spends her days drawing for TV shows and for children’s books. Her diverse background inspires her in creating illustrations that celebrate diversity. She produces her art digitally but loves to play with different materials when sketching. When not drawing, she loves to spend time with loved ones, read and go out for a run!
Episode 3: The Party
Illustrator: Kate Escolin
Kate is a Filipino illustrator currently living in Kildare. She loves to make her illustration work as bright and colourful as possible. She is most known for drawing four panel comics inspired by her conversations with her friends and loved ones. Her goal is to make people laugh and also feel comfort within her art. She spends her days drawing for clients on her Ipad but her goal is to publish her own comic one day. Like all children she loved to draw but refused to give it up. She hopes that her love for art inspires others to pick up a pencil again and not worry about the outcome but enjoy the process
Episode 4: Seeking Hiroto
Illustrator: Fergal O’Connor
Fergal O’ Connor is an illustrator from the beautiful southwest of Ireland. He currently lives and works from Barcelona, Spain. Fergal mainly works with watercolours and creates images of a world full of magic, charm, and mystery. His illustrations are full of detail and whimsical little homes and creatures, and he aims to give the viewer both cosy feelings and to also open their imaginations up to the world behind the image. He hopes the viewer is left with the feeling that somewhere out there this little world exists and the critters and characters who live within it are out there right now going about their adventures. Fergal has exhibited his work internationally and has worked on a number of published children’s books as well as many commercial projects.
