About Messy Play: Sensory play enhances learning through hands-on activities that stimulate
the child’s senses. This is a great way for young children to explore the world
they live in. This immersive workshop will provide an opportunity for creative
exploration of their world by playing with various homemade sensory
materials, natural materials and art materials. This is a messy, fun, creative
and social workshop where children and parents/caregivers have the
opportunity to play and create alongside each other.

Week Two – Creative Courtyard Clay Workshop with Grainne Taylor

About: Grainne Taylor lives in Waterford, Ireland. In her youth, she attended art college and studied drawing, clay, and printing in Waterford Institute of Technology, Grennan Mill Craft School and Limerick College of Art and Design.

When she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to do post graduate work in Studio art, Ceramics at Syracuse University, NY, it opened her eyes to being comfortable with everything about herself, to respect traditions of art and craft but not get stifled by them. As a result, the ceramics and jewelry pieces she makes are influenced by printing, vintage finds, drawing, the urban environment, and clay traditions. She uses figurative images and tries to create a compositional balance of these elements together, using both found patterns and ones created in the studio.

She makes products for everyday use in her little city studio in Waterford which are available at local markets and on her website www.shedpotz.com.  She wants the objects created to work well and bring joy to your life by using them. She also loves sharing her love of clay through teaching workshops in clay and jewelry making in Waterford and the surrounding area, channeling skills into a class sized nuggets for students to have a satisfying experience and hopefully leave feeling inspired and curious to create more.

About Make your own Crazy Wall Art Garden!: In this workshop, I will show you how to use air-dry clay to make your own wall hanging. The clay can dry out at home. You can add paint to it to colour it, or paint it afterward.

You can use your imagination to make your own garden design, with a monster, a fairy door, a house or sky, anything can be in your garden wall hanging. You can use all the supplies to help you, including paint, stamps, tiny cookie cutters, glitter, and lots of other things to make your project really special to you. By the end of the workshop it can be ready to hang, just needs to dry out for a few days!
