What’s My Practice 02: Working in Context with Sophie Hutchinson

This workshop is free, but must be booked in advance for numbers & info relating to Zoom participation.

Tuesday 26th Jan 2021 | 11-12:30 (with time for follow up chat) | Online

In this workshop, Sophie Hutchinson will give us a window into the more restorative dance aspect of her practice. Sophie will offer a gentle movement workshop for dance & movement artists as part of a week of professional development workshops for dance & movement artists. She will explore improvisational tasks along the theme of ‘subtlety’ – moving less to feel more, also looking closer at the articulation of our movements to express ourselves with more ease and potentially even pleasure!

Some tasks will require something to write or draw on and also at the end, it may be nice to have a cosy jumper or blanket for a restorative relaxation.

About Sophie Hutchinson:
Sophie is a dance artist and hatha yoga teacher, originally from Waterford City and currently based in Leeds. She has always sought to give word to thought through movement. Her expression of dance is an articulation of her lucid imagination, the desire to connect with the Wild Woman and her strong belief in the human spirit, something that can be disarmed and united through creative output.

As a performer, Sophie has worked nationally and internationally with Company of Others Dance Theatre (UK) and Song of the Goat Theatre //Piesn kozla (Poland) alongside regular collaborations with local artists, musicians, and poets.

As a facilitator she has worked within arts organisations, schools, colleges, and community settings -sharing her practises as a way to help people connect with others and experience the joy and mental health benefits that these practises can provide.

This workshop is free, but must be booked in advance for numbers & info relating to Zoom participation.
