Cailleacha agus Bandia is the latest project from vocalist, cellist and composer Aleka Potinga.
This project sees a point of departure from her usual influence of Romanian folk music, instead, looking to Irish mythology for inspiration. She has chosen four female characters from these great mythological stories as her basis for a set of brand new compositions.
She is also collaborating for the first time with two visual artists who will create visuals for each piece. This is going to be a truly immersive experience with live visuals coinciding with soaring vocals, melancholic cello, alongside supportive guitar from long time collaborator Chris Guilfoyle.

Aleka Potinga is a Romanian singer, cellist and composer and she is the former Jazz Artist in Residence here at Garter Lane Arts Centre in partnership with the IMC Navigator Programme.
