About the Artists-
Natasha Everitt- Actor/Theatre Maker
Natasha is an interdisciplinary artist who has always had her toe dipped in the artistic stratsophere, but has recently dived head first into a full time freelance career as an actor/theatre maker.
Rhys Wallace- Visual Artist/Filmmaker
Gender, Glamour, Goner.
Rhys Wallace (They/Them) is a 24 year old Visual Artist currently living and working within Waterford City. A recent graduate from South East Technological University, Rhys creates performance and film work within the spheres of gender, sex, presentation and identity; specifically within the constraints and context of societal and historical expectations.
By framing these visual experiences within large scale installations, Rhys seeks to blend a 1960s Twiggy-style super model of the world attitude, with a dusty laurel canyon cult leader flare. Blending nostalgic moving fashion, with digital pack rat collage and eclectic editing to create the world of Rhys – a strange and enigmatic land where the boundaries of our world are crossed and challenged.
Their work seeks to investigate and interrogate the complex and often times confusing experience of gender within the constraints of contemporary western society as well as the historical inheritances given to us. Why is she a man? Why is he a woman? Why haven’t you ascended beyond yet? Trans-vestigation is abound, step into the cult of Rhys and experience the teachings yourself.
Rhys most recently has participated in Capacity Ireland and Carlow Arts Office’s Breaking the Patterns Artists Residency in Seville.
Rachel Roberts- Visual Artist/Painter
My name is Rachel Roberts and I am a Waterford-based artist and recent graduate of SETU Waterford with a BA Hons in Visual Art, I specialise in photography and painting. My artistic practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of ephemeral concepts such as memory, dreams and time. These themes serve as the guiding force behind my creative process, leading me to delve into the intricate landscapes of our inner worlds.
Utilising both my own photography and an archive of family photos, I create paintings that encapsulate fleeting moments. My work aims to evoke a sense of temporality, achieved using high-contrast colours, scale manipulation, overlays, and reduction of visual information.
Since graduating, I have been an active studio member at Garter Lane Arts Centre, situated in the heart of Waterford City. My artistic endeavors have been showcased in prominent exhibitions, including displays at the Central Library Waterford, GOMA Waterford, and The Old Market House Arts Centre in Dungarvan. Additionally, I contribute to Waterford’s local art community as the Visual Arts Assistant at Garter Lane through the CE Scheme. Currently I am artist-in-residence in Lisbon as part of Capacity Ireland’s Breaking the Patterns Programme.
