Filmed live during its sold-out run in London’s West End, Vanya will be playing exclusively in cinemas in 2024 and comes to Garter Lane on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 March at 8pm.
Andrew Scott (All Of Us Strangers, Fleabag, Sherlock, His Dark Materials, Pride, The Pursuit of Love, NT Live: Present Laughter) brings multiple characters to life in Simon Stephens’ (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) radical new version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. Hopes, dreams and regrets are thrust into sharp focus in this one-man adaptation which explores the complexities of human emotions.
Ivan (Uncle Vanya) has spent his life managing the estate and business affairs of his family with little regard for his efforts. Andrew Scott plays the titular character alongside his second wife Helena, retired professor Alexander and his daughter Sonia, Vanya’s widowed mother Maureen, his romantic rival the country doctor Michael and the nanny Maria, alongside Elizabeth and Liam. Filmed live from its sold-out West End run.
- Adapted by Simon Stephens, after Anton Chekhov
