Gediminas Karkauskas is a Lithuanian jazz and classically trained pianist based in Dublin for the past 20 years. He has studied at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague and completed his Masters at the Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music.

Since arriving in Dublin, Gediminas has made many trips back to Europe
to appear in concert venues and jazz festivals. He has recently headlined at prestigious venues such as The National Concert Hall, Dublin and the Archduke in London as well as appearing at Kilkenny Arts Festival.

His debut album ‘Lost Suite‘, a concept album of original compositions, remained in the US charts for fifteen weeks and was listed as one of the top jazz albums of the year by ‘Jazzfuel’.  Journalist and author Debbie Burke (USA) dedicated an entire chapter of her book ‘Tasty Jazz Jams Of Our Time Vol 2’ to the album, whilst Ian Mann (Jazz Mann CD Review UK) wrote of it “The melodies here are exquisite and the execution flawless, melding jazz and classical disciplines to deliver six sparkling new originals “.

Gediminas will be joined by Wexford drummer Kevin Lawlor (Director of Jazz Studies at CWSM) and German double bassist Florian Kockott (Music educator and Composer). Kockott was recruited for Lawlor’s upcoming album and both have performed as a rhythm section for visiting jazz musicians such a Joseph Leighton, Scott Flannigan and Dave Jones.

Gediminas Karkauskas Trio will present a programme of original music as well as jazz standards with room for some unexpected pieces too!
