Mission Statement
Garter Lane Arts Centre actively promotes contemporary art and robustly supports both emerging and established artists. We are committed to fostering vibrant cultural and community dialogue. Through championing and supporting comprehensive arts practice and dynamic programming, we continuously work toward increased accessibility to and in the arts sector.
At Garter Lane Arts Centre artists engage with the centre on their own professional development trajectory, and often on residencies or commission based work. This network of artists has created an environment where knowledge transfer between staff/arts workers and artists flows freely.
Broadly speaking the centre pursues Residencies in Dance, Theatre and Film. These residencies are supported through generous funding from the Arts Council & WC&CC. Artists are regularly engaged by the arts centre through funding from, but not exclusive to, Creative Waterford, WCQ, Waterford Area Partnership, The ETB.

Garter lane Arts Centre is a member of Theatre Forum.
Artists at Garter Lane are resourced through our buildings, spaces, staff and surrounds. Situated in the heart of the cultural quarter in the centre of Waterford City, Garter Lane boasts:
- 10 Visual Art Studios
- 1 Sprung Dance Floor Studio
- 1 Workshop space (‘Children’s Room’)
- 1 Project Space with retractable wall feature.
