Jazz artist David Duffy returns to his hometown Waterford, with a visual treat, to launch his latest album ‘Where the Branches Begin’ in the beautiful surroundings of Garter Lane Arts Centre. Now celebrating is 40th birthday the “center holds a special place in my heart and is the perfect location to bring this album and show to where it belongs… home”.
A double bassist and composer, David has spent the past six years living in Barcelona, and for this performance will feature an international quartet of Swedish saxophonist, Emil Nerstrand, Catalan pianist Marc Martin, Davy Ryan from Ireland on drums and with special guest Russian vocalist Ksenia Parkhatskaya.
His latest album ‘Where the Branches Begin’ was released in October on Jazzville records and has received critical acclaim, with plays on Jazzfm, RTE, and BBC2, with Jamie Cullum calling it “fascinating and brilliant music“.
For this album launch, David has created a new show which integrates Jazz into an immersive audio-visual space. Expect beautiful projections, bespoke sophisticated lighting and an incredible jazz quartet that will create moving and evocative music, reminiscent of Portico Quartet, Nils Frahm and Mammal hands. The night will also feature special guest artist vocalist and dancer Ksenia Parkhatskaya.
