Sammy Kane is an emerging Waterford-based portraiture artist who works mainly with oil on canvas. He graduated from SETU with a First Class Honors Degree in Visual Arts, after which he has fully dedicated himself to developing and honing his craft to reach the high standard he sets for himself. He works primarily from life and focuses on capturing the spirit of the subject while also achieving realism and beauty. His love for the artform comes from a competitive drive to improve constantly and also the impossible challenge of creating the perfect portrait. Sammy has works in public and private collections, has won multiple awards and has exhibited in a number of different galleries across the country. He recently completed his first solo exhibition at An Chéad Tine, Kilkenny (a duo solo show).
