A Little Room Presents: Please Stand For The National Anthem
Please Stand For the national anthem is a new short play by Waterford writer/director Ryan Keogh. The show explores the struggles of living in an authoritarian version on Ireland through the lives of Micheal, Julia and Richard, 3 twenty-somethings living in a run down apartment in the capital.
As they struggle with issues such as food scarcity and finding work they are constantly on edge as they deal with the looming presence of Argus, an android placed in their apartment to ensure there is no “anti-government rhetoric” being shared. Will they be able to survive under the pressure of this dystopia or will it all be too much for them?
Waterford’s only dedicated theatre development space, A Little Room is based in the newly refurbished Garter Lane Studios at 5 O’Connell Street, in the heart of the city’s cultural quarter.
This unique theatre development space is open to professional practitioners from Waterford and beyond to come and spend a month developing work in a free and professional space.
Though the room’s primary focus is on developing theatre in the region, we welcome all creators who are exploring any aspect of performance.
