A Little Room Presents: Paws For Thought
Paws for Thought is a one-man play by Martina Teeny Collender that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his golden Labrador, Molly, across fourteen tender, funny, and heart-wrenching years.
Through a series of monologues that drift between memory and the present moment, the man recounts Molly’s life from the day he brought her home: a bundle of fur and joy, to her final moments, when he made the painful yet merciful decision to let her go peacefully. Her loyalty, her quirks, her unconditional love taught him how to really live.
Now, years later, as illness overtakes his own body, he reflects on what dignity, compassion, and choice truly mean. Haunted by the kindness he could show his beloved dog but is denied for himself, he questions the boundaries of mercy and the laws that govern our final days.
Paws for Thought is a meditation on love, loss, and the ethics of assisted dying. It invites audiences to consider what it means to live and to let go, with grace.
Performed by Paul Dillon, a professional actor with over forty years of involvement in amateur drama, musicals, film, and television productions.
Directed by Theatre Maker Sinéad Hourigan, a theatre maker from South Kilkenny who first got her passion for theatre as a member of Waterford Youth Arts. That spark from drama workshops gave her the push to study Theatre & Drama Studies at MTU’s Cork School of Music.
