Set in a desolate Irish landscape sometime in the future, The Ink House follows a young girl who discovers a lonely hut where a man preserves the nearly forgotten art of tattooing, now known simply as inking. Claiming she wants to be inked, she hides her true purpose: to learn how to enter The Pale, a fortified sanctuary created by the ultra-rich before the apocalypse, where clean water, fresh food, and security still exist. The man’s reluctance to help reveals a deeper mystery, as his own past is entangled within the hidden gates of The Pale.
A Little Room is Waterford’s only dedicated theatre development space. The room is based in our Garter Lane Studios at 5 O’Connell Street, in the heart of the city’s Cultural Quarter.
