Waterford Film For All presents Beat the Lotto (with Q&A by Ross Whittaker)
Ross Whitaker’s delightful documentary looks back at an extraordinary scheme. When Cork-based Stefan Klincewicz devised a system he claimed could guarantee a Lotto win, he put together a syndicate committed to investing in his plan.
When a 1992 rollover jackpot finally offered the opportunity they needed, the investors set off across the country in an audacious bid to buy thousands and thousands of Lotto tickets. The National Lottery got wind of the plan, however, and began to fight back – forcing the syndicate into a frenetic race against time.
Beat the Lotto is a terrific yarn, with plenty of humour and drama as a group of ambitious schemers look back at their effort to best a national institution.
