Red Lead Film presents Life Support

In the sparsely furnished backroom of a church in Ireland, a group of people gather each week. These recovering addicts find a degree of refuge in this sacred place. Some are reluctant, others more earnest, but they all struggle with frustration and temptation.

With the guidance of Father Houlihan (Philip Cullen), the group ethos promotes honesty, self-reflection, recovery and growth, yet the reality is far from the ideal. Who in the room is really sober, what dragons do they chase and what darkness lies in their hearts?

Life Support was directed by Fillipe Lezo, a Brazillian-born film maker, who now lives in Ireland. With roots in acting and music, he brings a performance-driven and collaborative spirit to every project. He was ably assisted by Selena O’ Sullivan, Ben Lehane and Mark Gleeson.

Cast
Philip Cullen, Clodagh Kenny, Thays Batista, Richie McGuire, Dean Gallagher, Kian Carroll, David Marchant and Joe Hodgkins.

About Red Lead
Red Lead was founded in 2014 in a cloud of cigarette smoke and lots of coffee. This Waterford-based production company has produced fourteen films over the last twelve years, exploring a broad range of themes and creating both fictional and documentary works.

Scripts are collaboratively written by cast members and all work is original. Most of our films have been set in Waterford and its beautiful scenic surrounds. The Truth and I Came Back were filmed on Inis Oírr and in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh.

We are a process-focused art group determined to make creative and challenging works. Each year we present a new film to SETU students and hold public launches in Garter Lane Arts Centre and other venues.

The project was presented to an international audience at a 2019 conference in Bergen, Norway. Our latest film, Life Support, a dramatic look at the power of addiction, was filmed over three very cold days in early January 2025.

We are currently filming The Franco Farce and due to start work on a feature film this coming autumn.

Red Lead is supported by Garter Lane Arts Centre, GOMA, WWETB and Andy Jordan of the renowned Jordan’s pub.
