The Snowman was adapted from Raymond Briggs’ 1978 picture book which sold over 5.5 million copies in 21 languages! Four years later it was adapted and went on to win Best Children’s Programme at the BAFTA TV Awards and was nominated for an Oscar. The house that appears in the book is based on Raymond Briggs’ own home in the Sussex Downs, near Brighton in England and the view from the boy’s window was inspired by the viewfrom Raymond’s studio.
