Tinteán Tales – An Illustration Workshop for 6 to 9 year olds
Step into a world of imagination in this special illustration workshop with artist Jennie O’Neill. Inspired by the Irish tradition “scéal tinteáin” – fireside stories, where families would gather around the hearth to share tales of wonder, adventure, and magic, this session invites young participants to become a storyteller through illustration.
Each child will imagine and create their own little paper house – a foldable, three-dimensional home for the characters and stories that live in their imagination. Who might dwell in your story house? A mischievous fairy, a lost explorer, a talking animal, or even a memory from your own family?
Using drawing, colouring, and simple paper-folding techniques, children will bring these imaginative dwellings to life. By the end of the session, each house will fold back down into a small, personal storybook – a tiny world you can hold in your hand and carry home.
This workshop blends art, storytelling, and the magic of books – celebrating the power of stories to connect us, just as they once did by the fireside.
All materials provided. Just bring your imagination!
