This June we have a great line-up of films from WFFA!
TAR-Composer and conductor Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett) is a classical music superstar. Her acclaimed run as chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic is about to reach its crescendo with a performance of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. But Tár also has a history of abusing her power. As investigations into Tár’s past behaviour begin, her professional and personal lives start spiralling out of control.
THE FABELMANS – New Jersey, 1952. Sammy Fabelman is the young son of Mitzi (Michelle Williams) and Burt (Paul Dano). A trip to a Cecil B DeMille movie is a transformative experience for Sammy, and his parents encourage him to start making 8mm home movies. As the years pass, Sammy’s filmmaking ambitions continue to grow… but he also starts noticing some troubling cracks in his parents’ marriage.
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE AT ONCE –A middle-aged Chinese immigrant is swept up into an insane adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she could have led.The film is a hilarious and big-hearted sci-fi action adventure about an exhausted Chinese American woman (Michelle Yeoh) who can’t seem to finish her taxes.
