National Symphony Orchestra Ireland returns to the SETU Arena for another evening of beautiful music
Dynamic Bulgarian pianist Emanuil Ivanov brings dazzling technique and sensitivity to Tchaikovsky’s iconic First Piano Concerto, a romantic showstopper famed for its bold opening and sweeping melodies. The programme continues with the rich textures of Rachmaninov’s Third Symphony, preceded by Grażyna Bacewicz’s Overture. Despite being written during the German occupation of Poland, it is an intriguing piece which the BBC writes “contains a musical message of hope” offering an evening of passion, drama and late-Romantic colour under the baton of much-loved conductor
The performance will be conducted by John Wilson, one of the most exciting and meticulous British conductors of his generation.
